I LOVE doing prom makeup!! These girls are so sweet and grateful for making them feel like princesses on what is most likely the 1st really special, elegant evenings of their lives.
Here are some of my favorites:
So, have you ever woken up feeling sluggish and you go to the bathroom, look in the mirror and think: “This is NOT what I look like!” Well, that was me this morning. My skin felt dull and I looked exhausted.
You start thinking about that wicked cute picture you took last summer with your boyfriend/husband/friends and probably made it your profile picture. THAT is what you really look like, isn’t it? Not this tired, pasty-looking person staring back at you.
All of a sudden you start to wonder if this is how people see you and not that beautiful girl with the gorgeous glow in those pictures.
I remembered hearing about an at-home, all natural “microdermabrasion” in some organic magazine or blog some time ago that only required baking soda and water. I thought I’d give it a try, after-all, this was an emergency!
I got in the shower with my baking soda and began applying it onto my damp skin. As I worked it in, I could immediately feel a difference, but it was missing something. I needed another ingredient to give me even better results and hopefully something else to help wake me up! That’s when I spotted the Refresh Facial Polish next to my shampoo bottle. Refresh Facial Polish is a Glo Therapeutics exfoliating product made up of peppermint oils, jojoba beads and arnica. I added a little bit of the polish to the baking soda and started again. WOW!!! The peppermint and arnica helped awaken my senses and the jojoba beads mixed with the baking soda was like polishing the sharp edges of a piece of dull wood. As I massaged this combination all over my face, I couldn’t believe how well it was working!
I rinsed my face of any leftover debris and (after finishing my shower) got out and patted my face dry. My skin felt AMAZING! Now, this would have all been for nothing had I not finished the job with some great products. My skin would have been left dehydrated without them, so I spritzed my face with Conditioning Tonic, applied Pure Hydration, a drop of B5 Hydration and finally, some Vita E Essential Cream (all Glo Therapeutics products).
My makeup went on smoothly and evenly and I felt like I had that glow again. This picture was taken at work this afternoon, hours after my at-home treatment!
Microdermabrasion treatments in salons usually start out at $100 and go up from there. Baking soda is a natural antibiotic relieving symptoms of bacteria, fungus, acne, etc. It helps draw out toxins in your body and is a great additive to any bath for it’s detoxifying properties! I also use baking soda to brush my teeth. I put it on top of the toothpaste and when people ask me how I whiten my teeth, baking soda is always my answer!
I FINALLY have a contour kit that matches my fair skin perfectly!! If you have that gorgeous, golden glow to your skin, God bless you…BUT if you’re like me and have fair skin with pink undertones and most contour kits make your look “dirty”, welcome to the club.
I can’t watch another YouTube tutorial on contouring while the girl looks flawless ands when I’m finished, I look like I’m trying to hide the fact that I haven’t washed my face in months. This is why I was so excited to see that my favorite makeup and skin-care line came out with a kit for Fair to Light skin tones that actually matches me!
I actually used all 4 colors in this kit, unlike with other contour kit’s I’ve purchased where I only use 2 0r 3 colors out of 6 and feel like I paid a small fortune for colors I won’t use. I put a little of the shimmer highlight on the bridge of my nose, tops of my cheekbones and bow of my lip.
I recommend this contour kit for anyone who is sick of dark shades that don’t blend in your fair skin and anyone with light skin looking for a great way to create a subtle, clean look!!
*The lips are Glo Minerals gloss in Flamingo
I’m not usually one for a bold lip, but this cream crayon by Glo Minerals looked pretty good, I thought! It felt good, too! The color lasted a while and I actually liked the look when it faded, because my lips are naturally pretty light, which I hate, so this gave them a “bitten” look!

Today I woke up and felt my skin was pretty flaky. I didn’t really notice it until I put my makeup on and saw it looked like it was “cracking”. I don’t know if you can tell from the picture unless you zoom in, but it was pretty noticeable close up. This is a good thing! It means my skin is shedding on a much faster pace than usual and new skin cells are being regenerated!
Tip: Don’t pick! Picking at flaky skin that hasn’t shed completely can lead to scarring. In a few more days, I should have beautiful, fresh new skin!
Day 3 after my Modified Jessner chemical peel.
My skin was a little dry, but I hydrated with my skin care regimen (previous blog post).
For face I used: IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Medium (as a primer), Glo Minerals Satin II foundation in Natural, Nyx Cosmetics Wonder Stick, Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, and Nyx Cosmetics Mosaic Powder Blush in Love Coral.
For Eyes I used: Glo Minerals Lash Thickener and Conditioner, and Glo Minerals Volumizing Mascara. Eye liner is Glo Minerals Liquid Ink in Black. The eye shadow is new (found at T.J. Maxx for $3.99!!) by Style Essentials called Natural Eye Shadow Palette.
The lips are by Sally Girl Hydrating Lip Gloss #388460.
Today I woke up and my skin felt “dry” and a little “flaky”, which is perfectly normal after a peel. I did feel that my skin tone was a little more even and the texture felt much more smooth.
I did notice a small pimple on my nose (awesome), but that’s normal too. After a peel, your skin cell renewal is accelerated so whatever bacteria may have been hiding under there is being pushed out. At least I know everything is working!
My skin care regimen this morning was all by Glo Therapeutics:
