Wildfire relief effort
Supporting pregnant and postpartum families through disaster recovery, one essential at a time.
When wildfires tore through Los Angeles County, they didn’t just destroy homes—they shattered stability during one of the most vulnerable times in a person’s life. For those who were pregnant or newly postpartum, the fires added an unbearable layer to an already delicate season—amplifying vulnerability into urgent need. Displacement, trauma, and lack of access to care collided with the systemic gaps that already leave many new parents unsupported. The fires only deepened those risks—cutting off healthcare access, increasing stress, and leaving families without basics like diapers, food, and shelter.
At Mama2Mama, we know how critical it is to act fast and with care. That’s why our wildfire response was immediate, culturally grounded, and community-powered—designed for the exact realities pregnant and postpartum families face in disaster.

Direct financial support when it’s needed most
Through our Wildfire Relief Fund, we provided $20,000 in immediate aid to 35 families, with grants ranging from $500–$750. Every dollar went straight into the hands of mothers trying to keep their families afloat—buying diapers, paying phone bills, putting gas in the car. A second round of disbursements is already planned for May 2025. We hope to provide multiple rounds of cash aid as funds are available, every 90 days.
More than donations— personalized, essential care
With the help of partners like Foothill Family, NCJW-LA, The LA Dodgers, and more, we distributed over 11,500 essential items to families in need. These included diapers, formula, baby food, breast pumps, strollers, car seats, and clothing for both babies and birthing parents. We also provided Hospital Go Bags, Postpartum Care Kits, and Hygiene Kits—carefully assembled to meet the immediate needs of families in crisis.
To ensure support was truly effective, we developed a culturally-informed intake system that prioritized personalized care. Families didn’t just receive what was available—they received what was appropriate, meaningful, and needed most.

Community-powered healing and wellness
Our wildfire relief efforts go beyond emergency aid—we create spaces for rest, connection, and collective healing. Through ongoing essential item pop-ups, we offer families a one-stop community gathering where they can “shop” for pregnancy, postpartum, and infant/toddler necessities at no cost. Each event includes nourishing breakfast, a place to sit and breathe, and the simple dignity of being cared for.
